Frequently asked questions

Having trouble? I try my best to make my designs easy to work with. I also include PDF instructions with every file. But if you need any kind of help and you can’t find the answer in the FAQs below please reach out, and I’ll do my best to help!

Software Compatibility

Most current cutting machine software programs are compatible with SVG files:

Cricut Design Space users can import SVG files using Cricut Design Space.

For Silhouette users, you will need Silhouette Studio Designer Edition to import SVG files. I very highly recommend the Designer Edition upgrade, as being able to open and work with SVGs in full color, plus the other features it includes are well worth the one-time upgrade cost.

Brother ScanNCut and DesignNCut users can open SVG files using Brother’s Canvas Workspace.

My SVG Files are also compatible with Make the Cut, Sure Cuts A Lot, Inkscape, CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, and any vector design software that accepts SVGs!

If you are not sure if your program can cut SVG files, you can download some of over 50 Free SVG files in my Freebie section to test with your software.

Please note that you’ll need to have the Designer Edition of Silhouette Studio to open SVG files.

If you have the Basic / Standard Edition of Silhouette Studio, you can use DXF files, which can be cut without tracing. I started including DXF files with all of my new cut file designs since the beginning of 2018. Files released prior to 2018 include a PNG clipart version which can be traced to create cut lines in Silhouette Studio.

I am slowly going back through older designs to add DXF versions, so if you purchase an older design, and need the DXF format, please contact me, and I will bump that design to the top of the list.

However, I do VERY highly recommend the Designer Edition upgrade, as the ease of working with SVG files, along with the features it includes are well worth the cost! It is a one-time paid upgrade, and you can usually find the Designer Edition instant digital download code upgrade for around $30 at Swing Design.

Downloading & Unzipping

welikesvg shop is a DIGITAL design store. All “Welikesvg” products are digital downloads.

There are 3 ways to download your files after placing an order:
1. A download link will appear on the Confirmation page immediately after you’ve completed your order.
2. You’ll receive an email receipt with download links for each item in your order (Be sure to check your Junk / Spam folder).
3. You can also download your files via the “Orders” or “Downloads” section of your Account page.

TO DOWNLOAD: Right-click on the download link and choose “Save Target as, Save Linked File as” or similar option (wording will vary depending on your browser). This will allow you to choose a specific location on your computer where you want the files to be saved. I recommend saving the zip files to your desktop, and then you can move them elsewhere on your computer after you have unzipped.

For step-by-step help downloading, see How to Download SVG Files

Free Scrapbook Layouts and Kiddie welikesvg shop can be downloaded instantly from each design’s preview page. I do not currently sell any physical products or supplies, therefore no physical items will be shipped to you.

By default, you will have 90 days or 5 tries (whichever comes first) to download your order. If the default limits have been exceeded, and you still need to download (or re-download) your order, just contact us at support@digitalzombiedesigns.com and we will be happy to reset your link.

Yes! All product files come as .zip files, which you can download using a mobile device and save to a cloud storage account like Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, etc. and have the file waiting for you on your computer!

Here’s a tutorial for how to Download & Unzip SVG Files on your iPhone or iPad

You can even extract (unzip) the download folder if you have a compatible app to extract (unzip)the files on your device (such as iZip).

Note, that using an extraction program like iZip to download and unzip the files will only allow you to unzip and view the files. You will need to use the appropriate cutting machine software compatible with your mobile device or computer to view and use SVG files.

To unzip on Mac: Just double-click the zip folder to unzip it.

To unzip on PC: Right-click and choose the “Extract All” option and follow the prompts. If your computer does not have extraction software built-in, you may need to download a free third-party program such as Stuffit Expander (Mac), or 7-Zip (PC).

If you are on a tablet or mobile phone, the iZip app is a great free extraction program.

Sometimes if a zip file is saved within a long folder hierarchy, it creates a very long path, which can create an issue saving or extracting.

Try moving the Zip file to your desktop and after you unzip it, you should be able to move the file folder back to your desired location on your computer.

Importing / Opening

First, make sure you have unzipped the download file. To unzip on Mac just double click the zip file. On PC you’ll need to right-click and choose “Extract all” and then follow the prompts.

After the file has been unzipped, you can import the SVG files in your cutting software. However please note that double-clicking will not work to open SVG files unless you have specified which program you want your computer to associate SVGs with.

It sounds like you are opening the png preview file which are the only files that have watermarks.

If you don’t see any SVG files in your download folder, here are a few things to try:

1. The download folder comes as a zip file which must be unzipped before you can view and open the files within. To unzip on Mac just double click the zip file. On PC you’ll need to right-click and choose “Extract all” and then follow the prompts.

2. Be sure that you have your computer set to show all file types.

3. Please note that some computers may display SVG files as browser files (Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc), however they are actually SVG files and should still upload correctly in your cutting software. The file type for these files should show as “SVG Document” or “Scalable Vector Graphic”.

If you still have trouble viewing the files in the download folder, please contact me.

3. Please note that some computers may display SVG file thumbnails as web browser icons (Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc), however they are actually SVG files and should still upload correctly in your cutting software.

SVG files should have “.svg” as the file extension. You can also check the file type or file Properties and they should show as “SVG Document” or “Scalable Vector Graphic”.

If you are seeing any error messages while trying to open the SVG files, please email me and let me know what the error says, and tell me what software you are using, I can help you get the file uploaded.

It sounds like you opened the PNG clipart file. Please double check that you are importing one of the SVG files included in the download folder.
